Robert COLNAGO was born 1935 in Vienna, lives and works
in Perchtoldsdorf at the Vienna Foundation
for the Graphic Education and Learning Laboratory in Vienna. Since 1971 he has been a free lance painter,
commercial artist and sculptor, teaching various courses and seminars (water
color, etching). He has participated in
many individual exhibitions, domestic and foreign, including Germany, Holland, Switzerland, Bahrain,
Egypt, 10th - 29 March 1990 studio
gallery. Influenced by his ancestry
– his great-grandfather and grandfather were recognized water painters and portrait
painters of their time - Robert Colnago follows his fantasy-ful artistic
impulse in all his work. His works are strongly
influenced by the spirit of our time.
Although they lead the viewer into the world of visions, longings and
dreams, they are expressed in realistic and naturalistic form. Following his humanistic and artistic ideals,
the themes of his pictures go far back in time, to the days of the biblical
flood and Greek mythology.
Besides the classical techniques of water color
painting developed in the last few years, he has also produced numerous copper
printings and multi-color etchings. Recently,
Robert Colnago has dedicated himself to the art of sculpture, wherein the
graphic arts proportion in his work is still predominant.
